What is Dominican Bachata?
Dominican bachata is a dance full of sensuality, partner connection and musicality inspired by the soulful melodic rhythms of guitars, and the suggestive sounds of accompanying instrumentation and vocals. It is a a Latin street dance with roots in the Dominican Republic that dancers all over the world have come to love...the body movement, they playful footwork, being at one with your partner, the music.... Dive deep into this dance and you'll find a freedom unlike any other. Under the spell of the music, feel the romance, the connection and lose yourself.

"Modern" Bachata Vs Dominican Bachata

What is the difference between Modern Bachata and Dominican Bachata?

There are many flavours of bachata music, some more romantic, while others are up beat, have a lot of rhythmic variation or infuse other flavours. In Latin night clubs, there are 2 predominant styles danced; Modern Bachata & Dominican Bachata. They share the same basic timing and rhythm, but differ in flavour and in the lead/follow.

Dance	• Uses a lot of open hold positions accenting sensual movements in closed holds and hip movements. • Musicality expresssed through rhythmic foot footword, body movement and directional changes. • Hip movements big and smooth • Stepping is very grounded	• Characterized by both of closed hold and open holds - can be danced mostly in closed hold. • Full body movement (upper body and hip movement). • Hip movements often "sharper" than Dominican bachata style
